I made a list of 10 goals to work towards in 2010. I don't expect to master each of these 10 items, but my goal is to make improvements in each. (Except #1 & #3, those are my main focus at the moment and my goal is to achieve exactly what I wrote.)
1. Lose an average of 2 pounds a week, therefore approximately 100 pounds.
2. Get fit again.
3. Quit Smoking.
4. End the year with less debt.
5. Make time to pursue hobbies.
6. Be a better wife.
7. Be a better friend.
8. To give more.
9. Be more thankful/grateful.
10. Get more sleep.
Those are great goals!
My New Years resolution is to try to have upbeat and positive FB statuses. I know this cant be possible if something really horrible happens, but just on a day to day basis. I have a large number of FB status complainers on my FB list and they really drag me down.
I'm all for goals! -but I find I'll stick to them if they're either fun or very simple changes.
For example, last year I stopped purchasing soda for the apartment. I also stopped purchasing snack items that weren't fruit/veggies or pretzels. I made a huge move away from artificial sweeteners in my coffee and other products (and by not purchasing diet soda).
This year I'm going to continue these small changes - by bringing a packed lunch to work that I made (no frozen meals, no takeout) and allowing myself one small plateful of food at dinner. No seconds. If I'm still hungry after a half-hour or so I may have a fruit or a veggie.
I'm also adding in something - two glasses of wine a week. We'll see how all that goes, and then I'll add some more. :)
...and more small changes, not more glasses of wine! :)
LOL @ adding glasses of wine!
You can absolutely do 10 out of 10 of these! They are all reasonable goals and I agree with Amanda that making small, practical steps is the way to assure your success!
I was reading an article that says the key to success on resolutions - at ANY time of the year - is to make them small and measurable and move on from there.
I haven't posted mine (yet), but my goal is to lose 1.5 lbs a week. That will put me at my goal at the end of February. 2 months. Once a week, I tune in. Start over the next week. Baby steps.
I'm running a 5K in April. My prep is 3x a week. One week at a time.
You get the idea. You can accomplish ALL of this! So - where are you starting this week? :) :)
