My new used couch

This are before pictures, to give you an idea. Waaay before, the most recent pictures I had of my living room are from Christmas.

Notice the wood coloured grandfather clock with stockings hanging off of it at the far left. The pee couch against the window. The old rocking chair.

The infamous pee couch

The new used couch! Doesn't it make a HUGE difference? My living room feels so much cozier!

I painted the corner hutch white, I painted the grandfather clock white, and I'm considering painting a white square around that painting. To highlight it, to make every white element tie together... what do you think?

  3. Agree with Melly, don't paint the wall. But if you don't want to frame the picture in white, you could also try mounting a piece of white painted wood (maybe MDF?) on the wall and hanging the picture on top of it. Would also give it a neat 3D effect (maybe even paint the edges/sides of the wood piece a different colour for more impact, depending on how thick the wood is)

  • Love the new sofa! I agree with Melly - I don't think I'd paint the wall white, I'd get a white frame/paint the frame. Actually, I have a "thing" for black frames, so I'd probably mat the picture in white and still keep a black frame, LOL.

  • Hahaha Oh Kate, your getting mad at me for never inviting you over is what made me decide to buy a used couch to replace the pee couch! Now I Just need to fix the kitchen island to not be so ashamed of dog damage anymore. Now I'll just have to be ashamed of my cooking!

  • I love the couch! It looks very soft and comfortable :)

I would probably avoid painting the white square. I think it makes it difficult if you ever want to change the dining room elements, and it can also make repainting a real chore (uneven texture).

There is another option - which is to frame the painting in white, or paint the frame white.

    I love your house!!!

  • Ooooh I didn't think of the texture when repainting.. I'm kind of liking your suggestion of painting the frame white!
